We are very excited for you to enjoy our Sensory Toy sub box.
Each month there will be a selection of sensory toys to suit the age range that you have signed up for.
Here on the TFI blog we will be highlighting some of the amazing resources included in each box and a few play ideas to get you started.
For those who signed up between 21st June - 20th July for our July/August Sensory Box, included in your box is:
Under 12 Months
Babies learn through exploring their senses. Our colour fabric book allows babies to enjoy the high-contrast pictures which grab their attention and help them to focus. As they get older the textures of the book add a tactile element giving them chance to enjoy the book for longer.
Use the easy hold colour panel to play peek-a-boo with smaller babies, as they grow they can use them to experience what the world would look like in different colours. Place by a light or window to give leave coloured shapes on the floor.
1-3 Years
Our 1-3 year box is designed to ignite the senses. Enjoy watching the world become magical and glittery by holding the easy hold panels up to your face as you peer through or use them as a calming method by sitting back and watching as the glitter falls and pools at the bottom.
The glitter Gelli Play is a messy and tactile fun activity. Simply add to water and it creates a sensory play that children love to explore. To expand your play time with it, add spoons, cups or small animals or just enjoy squeezing and moving the fun gooey gel.
3 Years+
Our eco tactile shells are an amazing open ended resource.
A fun game idea to use the shells which encourages new and varied vocabulary - take a photo of the shells included in your box then place 1 of them into a bag, hiding the others out of sight. Then get your child to feel the shell without looking and guess which 1 is hidden. If they need visual help then show them the photo you took. Encourage them to use describing words such as prickly, bumpy smooth etc to tell you which one they think it it.
Explore sound with children by placing something inside of 2 shells and shaking. Try different things to see what kind of noises they make.
Use with playdough or sand to make patterns and imprints...what happens if you press them in harder or softer?
Your Free Printables this month are some black & white high-contrast flashcards and a sensory search.
The high contrast flashcards are designed for under 12 month olds, they're especially great for young babies. Our sensory search sheet is designed to get children to stop and think about what they can see, hear, feel, smell and taste.
