Habitat & Facts
The goldfish is a freshwater fish, it is commonly kept as a pet in indoor aquariums and is one of the most popular aquarium fish. When they are kept in small indoor aquariums, goldfish tend to stay about 1 inch to 2 inches long. In recent years they have been creating problems in European and American freshwater systems due to owners releasing them into ponds and lakes. Due to having no competition they can grow very large and disturb the lake floor as well as eating the food of indigenous species. Most people feed goldfish with commercially produced fish food pellet or flakes. Fish in ponds feed on plants, algae, insects, insect larvae, and small crustaceans. They are found worldwide
